No, bio-impedance technology is very useful, scientifically backed technology used all across medicine, research and fitness. As with most medical tests, there are ways to prepare the body to improve accuracy. A comparable example is fasting prior to a glucose measurement.  Body Composition is used in medical research, clinical research, physicians offices, bariatric weight loss centers and fitness facilities across the country.

I’ve been working with BCA technology for 10  years, first in my wellness business and more recently I’ve been in my current role, working with businesses across the country.   I am not just a sales person trained to sell a product, I am an industry expert. There are few people that can speak about BIA and body composition as well rounded as I can. 

I recommend only units that are three frequencies, eight-electrode. Most professional units meet this standard.

The numbers SHOULD CHANGE. Your body is mostly water and water is constantly changing in your body. This is why when we compare progress. We compare results every other week or even better, once a month. Any machine that isn’t recording the small shifts in water that occur over short periods of time, isn’t as accurate as one that does. However, ultimately, those small shifts are irrelevant in comparisons over time. 

Most of the options a manufacturer’s sales rep puts in front of you, benefits them, not you. Because they have never actually worked with members in a gym, they know nothing about return on investment besides what they are trained to say to you.
